What to prepare on exam day
The exam begins at 11:00 AM. Students outside Ulaanbaatar or Mongolia may participate online.
On campus
- Bring one chest photo (1%)
- Bring a copy of your national ID
- Arrive before 10:30 AM
- Students arriving after 11:00 AM will not be admitted
Online
- Use an internet-connected desktop or laptop computer
- Sign in and be ready 15 minutes before the exam
- The link and instructions will be sent to your registered email
Scholarship terms for the online exam are administered separately from the on-campus exam.
3 sections — approximately 3 hours
The exam has three sections: English, Mathematics, and Essay Writing. No special preparation is required — solid high school knowledge is enough.
English
Reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills. Tests your ability to study in an English-language academic environment.
Mathematics
Algebra, arithmetic, data interpretation, and basic statistics. Tests analytical and quantitative reasoning.
Essay Writing
A short written response to a prompt in English. Tests critical thinking, organization of ideas, and written expression.
Common questions
When is the enrollment exam?
The fall enrollment exam is Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM. It lasts three hours and may be taken on campus or online. Registration closes August 7 at 6:00 PM.
What score do I need to get accepted?
There is no fixed passing score. Every year the exam changes, so scores are evaluated relative to other students that year. Students are ranked and offered acceptance and scholarships based on their rank — the higher your rank, the better your scholarship offer.
I'm in 11th grade — can I take the exam?
Absolutely! You can take the exam simply as practice. If you get accepted or receive a scholarship offer, that offer will still be valid the following year as well.
What language is the exam in?
As all classes at AUM are taught in English, the exam is given in English. There is no oral portion of the exam.

Yes. Download either version of the 2025 enrollment exam below to practice.
Is there a registration fee?
Yes. There is a ₮10,000 registration fee to take the enrollment exam.
Who is eligible to take the exam?
Any high school graduate or current 11th or 12th-grade student who plans to enroll in AUM can register. There is no age limit.
What if I don't pass the exam?
You can still apply to AUM through our regular admissions process. The exam is an additional opportunity to earn scholarships and guaranteed admission — not passing it does not close the door. You may also earn a 100% US scholarship later through strong academic performance.
Where will the exam results be published?
Results will be published on this page, the AUM Facebook page, and at the school. Scroll down to the Results section and search by your exam taker ID. You will also be notified directly if you place in the top 30.
