LETU Mongolia American University, also known as IDER English School of Business, is Mongolia's only American university teaching entirely in English. All professional subjects are taught in English by American professors. After studying in Mongolia for 1.5 years, students can transfer to LeTourneau University in the United States with a 100% scholarship and graduate with two diplomas. Many excellent students have graduated from an American university through this program. For the 2021 academic year, the university is selecting 40–50 undergraduate students from around 5,000 applicants. Selection closes on August 27.
How long has the university been operating?
Our university has been operating successfully since 2012. We are delighted to have provided a quality American education and prepared many knowledgeable, capable graduates during that time. Students arrive hoping to discover who they are and leave as mature individuals with a clearer sense of themselves. Our graduates typically receive three or four job offers and choose among them. In their first year after graduation, they are joining major companies with salaries of at least MNT 1.5 million, averaging MNT 2.5 million. We are proud of their achievements and draw encouragement from them.
What kinds of students do you select?
Each year, we select a very small number from thousands of applicants through examinations, essays, and interviews. This allows our American professors to work closely with each student and provide a quality education. A student's family background does not matter. We look for students with goals, a desire to learn, and the willingness to work toward those goals. Studying entirely in English to the demanding standards of an American university is, of course, no small challenge.
How can students study in America with a 100% scholarship? Are IELTS, TOEFL, or SAT scores required?
IELTS, TOEFL, and SAT scores are not required. Students who are admitted study all their professional subjects in English in Mongolia for one to one and a half years, then spend one year at LeTourneau University in the United States with a 100% tuition scholarship. Those who graduate in America receive two diplomas; those who graduate in Mongolia receive their Mongolian diploma. Naturally, students need very strong English because they will be studying their professional subjects with American professors here in Mongolia.
Which majors are available?
Our most sought-after fields are data analysis, data science, finance, and marketing. We also teach international business, business administration, accounting, aircraft piloting through a special program, and IT. After one to one and a half years in Mongolia, students who transfer to America can choose from more than 140 fields, including business, IT, engineering, aviation, education, and psychology.
Can every admitted student go to America with a 100% scholarship?
Every student admitted to LETU can take up a 100% scholarship to study at LeTourneau University in the United States. That is why we are so careful in our selection. Being admitted opens that opportunity to the student. However, because we provide the same quality of education in Mongolia as students would receive in America, many prefer to graduate here. The student's choice is what matters.
What other programs do you offer?
We offer a master's program in data analysis and certificate training for organizations. Data science is becoming a highly sought-after profession in Mongolia and around the world. We are proud that our students are valued employees at major Mongolian companies. Companies are now reserving places for our data analysis graduates a year before they finish. We will continue preparing more capable professionals who can contribute to Mongolia's development.
