Mission Statement

The English Language Institute (ELI) has two main goals. First, it prepares degree-seeking students for academic study at the American University of Mongolia. Second, it meets the learning needs of people in the community who want to improve their skills in everyday English and English for Specific Purposes.

In order to achieve this, the ELI employs a team of highly-skilled English Language professionals as administrators and teachers who are dedicated to their profession and committed to excellence.

Classes are small and learner-centered. Materials are authentic, engaging and appropriate. Students have access to modern learning technology and independent learning materials for both in- and out-of-class study. 

Courses in the ELI encourage learners to improve their English skills through activities that target critical thinking, creativity, autonomy and collaboration to best help them achieve their lifelong English Language learning goals.
